What is Counselling?
Counselling is a professional, therapeutic process where a trained counsellor helps individuals address personal, emotional, or psychological challenges. It involves talking through issues in a safe and confidential space to gain insight, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive change.
Counselling can cover a wide range of topics, such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, grief, and self-esteem. The goal is to support the person in understanding their feelings, exploring solutions, and improving their well-being.

How will I know if you’re the right counsellor for me?
Finding the right counsellor is about making sure you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. Research has shown that it’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship that determines whether therapy is effective or not. I offer a free initial telephone consultation of up to 30 mins to see whether I might be a good fit for you. There is no obligation to continue after this telephone consultation.

How do I pay?
Payment is to be made 24 hours in advance of session by bank transfer.

How long might I need therapy for?
The length of counselling depends on a few factors, including what you're working through, your goals, and how often you engage in the process. Here are some general guidelines:
Short-Term Counselling (A few weeks to a few months)
If you're dealing with a specific challenge (e.g., stress, a breakup, work conflict), short-term counselling might be enough.
Typically focused on problem-solving, coping strategies, and immediate relief.
Medium-Term Counselling (Several Months to a Year)
If you're working on deeper patterns, such as self-esteem issues, relationship dynamics, or ongoing anxiety, it may take longer.
This allows time for reflection, skill-building, and gradual change.
Long-Term Counselling (A Year or More)
If you're dealing with complex issues like trauma, long-term depression, or significant life transitions, ongoing support might be beneficial.
This approach is more about personal growth, deep healing, and self-discovery.
It’s also possible to take breaks and return when needed. You can start with a few sessions and see how you feel—counselling should be flexible and adapt to your needs.
