About Me

I began my working life as a Legal Secretary in Manchester City Centre until I relocated to Somerset some 20 years ago. I then spent 10 years as a childminder whilst raising my four boys. I looked after many children during that time offering care from a few months old to wrap around care for school children. I was was proud of my ‘Outstanding Provider’ rating from Ofsted. Throughout my time as a childminder, I had many parents confide their troubles in me. I was a safe space both at the beginning and end of their day to confide their worries and challenges and I was as supportive as I could be. They would often come back the next day to let me know just how much offloading had helped them. That’s when I decided to train as a counsellor and I haven’t looked back. It has been a privilege to have shared so many people’s journeys and help them navigate life’s many challenges.

My Experience

I have experience working at a college where I counselled both students and staff, at a homeless charity supporting rough sleepers and at a hostel which provides accommodation for rough sleepers to move on to independent living. I also volunteered as a Mindline Call Handler. I have worked with addiction, low mood, anxiety, depression, bullying, self-harm, suicide ideation, OCD, bereavement, loss, grief, trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, family breakdown, menopause, amongst others. I currently work for a university alongside my private practice working with their staff. I offer face-to-face counselling and online counselling. I am committed to my own ongoing personal and professional development and enhance this by undertaking regular training. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and attend regular supervision in order to explore ethical issues and ensure my fitness to practice.
